GREEN OCEAN SEAFOOD

CHALLENGE

Green Ocean (GO) Seafood is a company with sustainability in mind. Formerly known as Green Island Seafood Products, GO challenged RC to create a new look that speaks to their values without losing identity in the competitive frozen seafood sector.

Under new ownership, GO Seafood was eager for an updated identity and package design for their frozen seafood. They were really looking to promote their preference for sustainable fishing practices and tie into their great recipes to emphasize the quality of their products for home-chefs. GO also wanted to identify seafood varieties and cooked vs. raw product with colour-coding.

SOLUTION

This brand refresh for Green Ocean Seafood helped the frozen seafood distributor gain traction in the marketplace. The frozen fish freezer aisle is typically a sea of blue and yellow. To stand out while representing GO’s sustainable fishing practices, a craft paper background was used with strong black accents, and a homey touch was added by introducing a variety of plaid textile patterns — each pattern representing a unique variety.

PREVIOUS DESIGN

The original Green Island Seafood Products brand needed a design that communicates their vision with a modern touch.

NEW DESIGN

The logo was updated with nautical icons, in black only, and the company initials were used to create more appeal for the consumer.

PREVIOUS DESIGN

The existing Green Ocean Seafood packaging was due for an update – the object was to simplify brand communication without losing the freshness appeal of the product inside.

NEW DESIGN

Great food styling, recipe suggestions and superb photography highlight the quality of the product. Along with communicating a more artisanal and sustainable quality, the neutral tones of GO’s new branding and packaging allows a more prominent focus on the product.
